There is a 10% Service Charge and 7% Goods & Service Tax in Singapore hotels.

The local time in Singapore is GMT +8.

Cloth

Lightweight summer clothing is recommended. A suit is suitable for business. Restaurants that are more formal may also require a jacket.

Airport

Power Plug

Electric appliances need to be 230V/50Hz (although appliances set for 220 to 240 volts will operate). Singapore uses a Type-G plug for wall sockets. This is a flat three-pin plug (as used in the UK).

Water

Singapore’s tap water is within the World Health Organisation drinking water guidelines, and is suitable for drinking. Public Utilities Board

Currency

The currency unit in Singapore is the Singapore Dollar (SGD or S$). Cash withdrawal machines (ATM), banks and exchange offices are available city-wide. Well-known credit cards (American Express, Mastercard, Visa) are accepted in hotels, most of the restaurants and shops.

Weather

Singapore has a relatively uniform temperature throughout the year. The average temperature is 25°C to 32°C (77°F to 89.6°F) with a 66% average daily relative humidity. Rain falls throughout the year with more rain from November to January. Showers are usually sudden and heavy, but also brief and refreshing.

Visa & Customs

Most visitors to Singapore do not require a visa for entry.
